WordPress WednesdaysIt can be devastating to your blog’s rankings and readership if you do not post to your blog on a regular schedule.

However, life happens. Illness, vacations, writer’s blog or even internet or electricity outages can mean that you can not post on a regular schedule.

There’s one great and easy way to continue your blog’s posting schedule, keeping your readers happy – writing posts in advance with WordPress, especially if you know that you’ll be away from your computer for a few days – Edit timestamp!

  1. Look on the lower right-hand side of the ‘Write post’ page and find the “Post Timestamp” box.
  2. Check the box for “Edit timestamp” after expanding it (if applicable) and then change the date and time to when you want your post published.
  3. “Save and Continue Editing” your post, to save the settings.
  4. Finish writing your post and publish as usual.

The post will appear on your blog on the date and time you specify.

Full disclosure: I wrote this post on November 12, 2007 for publishing on December 26, 2007! 😎
