26 May, 2008 (05:22) | Geek Girl | By: Ellie

Geek GirlWe have all sent print jobs to the printer to only realize - “I shouldn’t have sent that!” But when you right-click on the job and press delete, the job says “Deleting” but never goes away!

The only way I knew of to fix this was to restart my computer. But, that’s a huge pain when I have four or five programs open and working online, too!

Follow the directions below to manually force delete print jobs. You won’t have to reboot your computer afterwards, either!

Geek GirlI upgraded my computer system in January - and initially, I was upset because the laptop I wanted only came with Vista. I heard the horror stories and was not looking forward to using Vista, but I did it, anyway!

Geek GirlI am always looking for ways to save time - because time IS money! Fortunately, there are lots of ways to save time when replying to emails, filling out forms online and more - text replacement software!

The premise of text replacement software is to provide a way to type in a few characters and have them replaced by sentences, code, paragraphs - whatever text you specify. AutoPlay (autorun) your USB Drive, External Harddrive

14 January, 2008 (06:59) | Geek Girl | By: Ellie

Geek GirlOne of the most common things computer users do is to disable AutoPlay (autorun) of their USB or external drive unintentionally - and they don’t know how to reset these settings!

What is AutoPlay (autorun) and why do I need it?

Autorun (sometimes spelled in CamelCase as AutoRun or AutoPlay) is the ability of many modern computer operating systems to automatically take some action upon the insertion of removable media such as a CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, or flash media.

Autorun is intended as a convenience feature: software distributed on a disc can automatically start an installer when the disc is inserted.
