Almost every blog software uses some form of categories and tagging to label your posts. You can turn your blog into a well organized internal search engine with a little elbow grease.
Categories can be thought of as a chest of drawers in your bedroom. Each drawer has a specific purpose – one for socks, one for shirts, another for sweaters, and so on.
Tags are subdivisions of each category. Inside of each drawer (category) you can divide your socks by color or type. Same with your shirts and sweaters. Tags are a compliment to categories, so you remain organized.

Using WordPress as your blogging software or even content management software is pretty easy, even for blogging software newbies. Personalization is what makes WordPress stand out, though. Not only can you use code to add functionality to your site, but you can also use any one of literally thousands of plugins to add features you want or need as well!
While I generally use around 30 plugins for this site, I do have a favorite… hands down —- RSS Footer.

Everybody loves the Internet’s dynamic nature.
It is constantly changing and evolving to meet the needs of its users.
A few of my favorite web applications launched new features this week, or at least they hit my account this week!
Of course, you should check out my posts about the new WordPress version 2.6 – WordPress 2.6 Released a Month Ahead of Schedule and Shareaholic – Shareaholic helps you share your favorite websites, if you haven’t already.
- The WordPress Themes Repository was relaunched! Yay! I can stop by the site and check out new and updated themes – no more Google searching for themes – find the good ones right on WordPress’ website!
Everyone wants internet fame, myself included. Perhaps one of the most popular ways to get internet fame today is to hit the front page on Digg, get a billion and twenty five Stumbles (thumbs up) on StumbleUpon.
There are many ways to get internet popularity – but I’ll focus on the two that I think conflict and complement each other the most. Digging and Stumbling upon request from the author (or a friend), or only Digging and Stumbling articles that you genuinely enjoy.
I am a huge fan of StumbleUpon – the social networking site that lets you set preferences and find site that you might be interested in – and share them with friends!
But as a blogger, I am always interested in how often my pages are Stumbled (added to StumbleUpon’s databases).
I found a simple JavaScript bookmarklet for Firefox at The Internet Entrepreneur Diary that can let me know with one click whether or not a page has been Stumbled.
Stumbled?
Simply drag and drop the “Stumbled?” link to your “Bookmarks Toolbar Folder”. Now, you will have a shortcut on your Firefox Bookmarks Toolbar.

Some bloggers have had success with selling links on their blogs – however, be aware the the Great Google does not condone selling links that pass PageRank.
