Photo Dropper searches for photos licensed for shared use and lets you pick the perfect pictures to add to your posts!

1. Once you have the Photo Dropper plugin activated, you will see an “Add Photo via Photo Dropper” icon right above your Write Post (or Write Page) editor.Click on it, and enter keyword(s) for a photo you would like for your post (Example: “geek”, “biking”, or “cell phones”) and click the Search button.
2. The search will return photos matching your keywords.

3. Once you find a photo you would like to add to your post, click on any of the sizes (”S”mall, “M”edium, “L”arge) to add that photo and attribution link to your post.
4. The photo will appear in your post, followed by a link to the specific CC license for that photo, as well as a link back to the Photo Dropper site, and a link to the photographer’s Flickr page.

First, go to the menu bar and click on Tools, and then Options. Then, click on the Main tab.

Type the URLs you want to use into the box labeled “Home Page” and separate them with the “|” symbol. This symbol is on most keyboards right above the ENTER key on the right-hand side of the keyboard. You have to press SHIFT then the key to make the “|” symbol appear.

If you want to duplicate the features of Morning Coffee and have an entire folder of bookmarks open when you open your browser or hit the HOME button, select the “Use Homepage” button and a folder of bookmarks to be your Home Page.

Remember, if you select multiple home pages to open, all of them will open in separate tabs when you hit the HOME button or open the browser.

How to Setup Multiple Home Pages in Firefox

PocketBreeze - This is a Windows Mobile app that you can use in conjunction with other apps such as the SPB Mobile Shell. It is a neat concept, but I found it difficult to maneuver. I loved having my texts pop up on the screen but being able to reply was difficult as the button was so small. Being able to easily tab or scroll through calendar, notepad and other basic programs of Windows Mobile made this pretty decent overall. I’m not sure if I’ll keep it, but definitely would reconsider if they would make the buttons a little bigger (you can adjust the text size). Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Neither of these great Windows Mobile applications are free, but they do have full version trials, so you can test the software out before obligating yourself to paying $19.95-29.95 for the software.

If you are serious about web surfing, you will quickly find that many websites render (load) faster in Firefox, it is easily customizable through the options available out of the box, but you can choose from hundreds of add-ons (extensions) to add additional functionality!

1. Shareaholic - Shareaholic makes it easy for you to submit the web page you’re on to your favorite sharing or bookmarking service, including: digg, del.icio.us, facebook, friendfeed, google bookmarks, google reader notes, kaboodle, magnolia, mixx, myspace, pownce, reddit, stumbleupon, tumblr, Twitter, and ycombinator. You can also e-mail the web page directly to a friend.
2. All-in-One Sidebar - A sidebar control, inspired by Opera’s. Click on the left edge of your browser window to open the sidebar and get easy access to all your panels. It lets you quickly switch between sidebar panels, view dialog windows such as downloads, extensions, and more in the sidebar, or view source or websites in the sidebar. It includes a slide-out button and a toolbar, all of which can be extensively customized.
3. StumbleUpon Toolbar - StumbleUpon discovers web sites based on your interests. Whether it’s a web page, photo or video, the StumbleUpon personalized recommendation engine learns what you like, and brings you more.

6. Adblock Plus - Ever been annoyed by all those ads and banners on the internet that often take longer to download than everything else on the page? Install Adblock Plus now and get rid of them. Right-click on a banner and choose “Adblock” from the context menu — the banner won’t be downloaded again. Maybe even replace parts of the banner address with star symbols to block similar banners as well. Or choose a filter subscription, then even this simple task will usually be unnecessary: the filter subscription will block most advertisements fully automatically.
7. Flashblock - Flashblock is an extension for the Mozilla, Firefox, and Netscape browsers that takes a pessimistic approach to dealing with Adobe (Macromedia) Flash content on a webpage and blocks ALL Flash content from loading. It then leaves placeholders on the webpage that allow you to click to download and then view the Flash content.
8. PriceDrop - PriceDrop is a Firefox extension which allows you to track product prices at Amazon shops , and get notifications whenever they drop - straight into your browser. PriceDrop will let you know when the price of your favorite products goes down.
9. Google Reader Notifier - This Firefox extension shows you how many unread items you have in your Google Reader account.
10. CustomizeGoogle - CustomizeGoogle is a Firefox extension that enhances Google search results by adding extra information (like links to Yahoo, Ask.com, MSN etc) and removing unwanted information (like ads and spam).

10 Must Have Firefox Add-ons for Serious Web Surfers

After Amazon updated their Associates code, I was unable to use the getASIN bookmarklet. I searched high and low for a solution, and finally found a bookmarklet that works from Justin Blanton with the new Amazon Associates website.

To use this bookmarklet, follow these steps:

1. Drag the above link to your browser’s toolbar.
2. Edit the JavaScript to reflect your Amazon Associates ID (i.e., change “justinblanton-20″ to your ID).
3. Click the bookmarklet while you are on any Amazon product page.
4. Wait for the page to refresh and then, depending on your intended use, either do nothing or copy/paste the URI that’s now in the address bar.

I do want to note here that to edit the Javascript in Firefox means to right click on the bookmarklet and press properties, then edit the Javascript. Press “Save Changes” to make sure the changes are saved. There’s no need to restart the browser.

Navigate to Publicize and first ACTIVATE the service.

Now, you’ll see the page load with something similar to this:

Customize your chicklet to match your website’s color scheme. As you can see, you can select from the color palette on the site, or input your own HEX code.

Copy and paste the HTML code into your WordPress template and save. Most bloggers put their FeedBurner stats in their sidebar (sidebar.php) near the RSS subscribe button or link, but you can also tinker with its location - further down the sidebar by the traffic stats, within individual posts, etc. Or try placing the chicklet in your footer. The sky’s really the limit with placing the chicklet in your blog’s template!

Show off your Feedburner Subscribers

I usually do ALL of my holiday shopping online, because frankly, it is easier than going from store to store and mall to mall to find the “perfect” gift - and giving up and getting everyone a coffee maker.

Here is my top 10 list of places to shop online for the holidays. If you have any suggestions, post them in the comments!

1. Even the most gift-giving challenged of us can find a gift for that special someone via Amazon Gift Central. It’s organized, easy to use, and who doesn’t have an Amazon.com account?
2. I love making things to give as gifts. Unfortunately, I’ve been swamped this year, but Etsy came to the rescue! Search for whatever items you can dream up, and I betcha somebody has it for sale. Pricing is reasonable, especially for handmade items, and most of the sellers are friendly and helpful when you email with questions.
3. Almost everyone knows someone living in a dorm or small apartment - so why not check and see what your favorite dorm-dweller’s mid-year needs are, and buy them something they need from Dormbuys.com, plus something they’d want? With reasonable prices and a great selection, I love Dormbuys!
4. Need a gift for an aunt or uncle who loves to travel? I found TravelSmith - which has great travel accessories at reasonable prices! If you want to splurge, get a pair of the ultra comfortable travel shoes, or a nice piece of luggage for someone (or yourself!).
5. CafePress.com always has so many cool things to buy, but not enough time to see them all! So why not give someone a gift certificate to CafePress that is good at ALL of their stores? Gift certificates are never out of style, and you are also helping a small business owner make a few dollars.
   
6. One of my very good friends has a snarky/weird sense of humor. So, I always get her tee shirts with funny/wierd sayings on them from CottonFactory.com. Just looking through the selection is funny enough, so check it out today.
7. Have a tech-lover on your list? SuperMediaStore.com has all kinds of techie goodies at low, low prices - and you can often find a deal for free shipping - who can beat that?
8. The Coolest Gifts has a great search aggregator, much like Amazon’s Gift Central, so you can find the coolest gifts for everyone on your list. Just search under gift categories by price, type or the recipient. What’s even better is the site has an RSS feed so you can subscribe and get updates when they post new items.
9. Do you have a friend who just moved into a new place? Not sure what to get them? A grocery store gift card might be a perfect gift. You can always invite yourself over to dinner after you know they went shopping! LOL
10. Last, but definitely not least, my favorite place to shop online for gifts is… FatWallet.com. This site provides the discounts you want to dozens of stores, without the hassle of visiting each site separately. Find the discounts, then purchase at the individual stores - and save!

Top 10 Places to Shop Online for the Holidays

Categories can be thought of as a chest of drawers in your bedroom. Each drawer has a specific purpose - one for socks, one for shirts, another for sweaters, and so on.

Tags are subdivisions of each category. Inside of each drawer (category) you can divide your socks by color or type. Same with your shirts and sweaters. Tags are a compliment to categories, so you remain organized.

Since you can have blue socks, as well as blue sweaters, you can use “blue” to tag both the “Socks” drawer and the “Sweaters” drawer. But, socks can’t be sweaters and sweaters can’t be socks.

Make sense?

The other thing to remember about using categories and tags is to make them relevant. Don’t go all crazy with random category names that really do not describe the content inside. If you have posts about top WordPress plugins, then categorize them under “WordPress” or “WordPress Plugins”, not “My favorite blog software”.

It is easier (and suggested by most pro-bloggers) to be a little flexible with your tags, but again, the key is to not go overboard with irrelevant tags.

This cartoon from Being Five shows a common tactic used by lots of bloggers - using tags that are irrelevant to your post, but may generate lots of search engine traffic. I recommend staying away from tags that have no relevance to your posts. I also suggest to use tags based on key terms or words in your post. Look over your post. What are the main concepts, terms and ideas? Those should be tags.

No matter what blogging software you use, effectively use your categories and tags to organize your posts! You will be pleasantly pleased by how orderly your blog looks AND how easy it is to find the information you need without using a search engine!
