The Best Google Notebook Replacement

Google Notebook will be around for a while, but Google has stopped development on this highly popular online notetaking tool. New users will not be added, and there will be no updates to the Google Notebook Firefox Extension.

The Official Google Notebook Blog suggests to use Google Docs, Tasks in Gmail Labs or Google Bookmarks. However, I have an even better suggestion – Evernote.

Evernote allows you to easily capture information in any environment using whatever device or platform you find most convenient, and makes this information accessible and searchable at any time, from anywhere.

montage_phone_desktop_browser_1The thing I love most about Evernote is its accessibility via various mediums – you can use Evernote online via their website, use their bookmarklet to add new clips or use Evernote via your mobile phone’s browser. You can also use Evernote via software that is downloaded to your computer, iPhone, Windows Mobile phone or flash drive.

I’m never without access to my Evernote account. I clip 5-8 items a day, yet I still have plenty of space available in my free account for new clips – whether they are text notes, clips from online articles, photos or doodles.

Now that Google Notebook is going the way of the do-do bird, what are your plans? Will you be moving to Evernote or another note-taking/clipping service?

  1. Absolutely right! Evernote is a great alternative. It is also integrated with Pelotonics which is another reason to use it!
