The United States Postal Service (USPS) offers free shipping supplies on its website. The postman will also deliver these supplies to you. Other supplies can be prepaid online to save you from standing in line at the post office!

Federal Express (FedEx) also offers free pickup service. You can also call a LIVE representative and get advice on how to best pack your boxes to ensure nothing gets damaged in transit.

Shipping Sidekick is a free service to help you find the best real-time shipping rates from the major shipping companies – UPS, FedEx, DHL and the USPS. Rates are generated for up to a week in advance.

As always, I recommend Amazon.com for your holiday shopping. Amazon has great deals, and any order over $25 gets free shipping. If you sign up for Amazon Prime, you get unlimited free 2 day shipping and an upgrade to next day shipping for $3.99!

Other online stores offer free shipping, but check their policies to see if there are minimum purchase levels, restrictions on shipping or blackout dates.

Happy shopping and happy holidays!

This special feature, Geek Girl, appears every Monday.

  1. I have noticed that if you purchase and print postage from the USPS website as opposed to paying for postage at the post office, they offer a small discount. Another great way to save a little money, plus it saves you a trip to the PO.

  2. Hannah, that is definitely a plus, too! Saving money and time! I love it!
