Gmail’s latest experiment in adding features to their web client – Gmail Labs – launched last week to much fanfare across the blogosphere. I was impressed with the which features 13 experimental features included in Gmail Labs because they give me some of the functionality I lacked before – and really wanted in a web based email client.
There are currently 13 features included in Gmail Labs, and the team assures us that more will be added in the future.

Access Gmail Labs in your account by selecting “Settings” in the upper right-hand corner of your mail screen, then selecting the “Labs” tab. You can select as many or as few features as you’d like, and disable them at any time.
TIP: If you try the new features and they “break” your account, visit http://mail.google.com/mail/?labs=0 to temporarily disable Gmail Labs and get your account back to normal.
My favorites are Superstars, which adds a whole set of new stars and icons to use to “flag” emails, and Email Addict, which forces you to take a 15 minute break from Gmail!
TIP: There is a way to break out of Email Addict, which is to press the “ESC” key on your keyboard. If that does not work, close your tab or browser, then reopen Gmail.
Which Gmail Labs features are you using? Love ’em? Hate ’em? Let’s hear it in the comments!
