Sounds on Firefox

Geek GirlGood day! Some of my top secret readers have emailed me with questions related to technology. While I am not a computer scientist, I have dabbled in all areas of computer-related technology since 1996. So, I decided to add this feature, Geek Girl, to help out my top secret readers and also my adoring fans.  If you have questions or have a topic you’d like to see addressed, drop me an email or leave a comment.

A couple of people have asked me if they had messed up their install of Firefox because they did not hear “noises” when using the Google search bar or clicking on links within the browser.

Well, given that I’ve installed Firefox on multiple computers over the last 3 years, I can say for sure that it isn’t an install error. Perhaps the guys and gals over at Mozilla realized that most people never have their sound on, so they’d never here these browser sounds, anyway!

For those of you who have to hear that click, here’s a extension that will work for you – PopupSound.

PopupSound adds sounds to not just popup ads being blocked (Does anybody remember the popup blocker that sounded like popping balloons?), but also to actions within the browser like pressing enter or clicking on a link. I tried it out and it is JUST LIKE IE.

Try it out and let me know how you like this handy extension!

This special feature, Geek Girl, appears every Monday.
