Everyone wants to have a blog that stands out from the crowd. The easiest way to do this is to invest in personalizing a free WordPress theme or paying a designer to create a one of a kind theme for you.

I utilize a free theme that I am constantly tweaking to add flashes of my on personality. But, I also have the options invest in either a totally fresh theme from a designer to take advantage of a unique disply for my unique content, or someone to do a blog makeover, which can be as simple as new buttons or fonts, or a total color makeover!

Mastering the Art of Grocery Store Shopping

If you are like most people, you weren’t born knowing how to grocery shop. You may not have even paid half attention to what your parents tried to tell you when they toted you along to the store sometimes. The experience of having to do it for yourself (of course after you try to just eat out every night and go broke, or going to get the usual staple items of tuna and ramen and get tired of eating them) can be very frightening. I look forward to my grocery trips, but that’s because over the years I have learned how to do it right and save money! I will assume that everyone already possesses a decent set of pots and pans, spatulas, spoons, measuring cups, measuring spoons, trays, etc in addition to spices and seasonings (basic salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, butter, oil, etc).

Geek GirlI’ve been a Pidgin fan since it was called “Gaim”. This multi-protocol chat client is not as feature heavy as some of the others out there, like Trillian, but gets the job done efficiently and wrapped in a pretty package!

Pidgin is an instant messaging program for Windows, Linux, BSD, and other Unixes. You can talk to your friends using AIM, ICQ, Jabber/XMPP, MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, QQ, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, MySpaceIM, and Zephyr.

This is Step #18 in the 101 Steps to Becoming a Better Blogger.

Encourage social bookmarking after every post.

I added the “Share This” button to thepinkc a long time ago. It does not work with every theme, but I hope to use it in the future, if I can. There are some bloggers that feel that if you really like a post that you’ll Digg or bookmark it, whether or not there are buttons on the page. I am halfway in that camp, too. Again, are enough people using it to make it worthy of the additional bandwidth or database calls.

Tips to keep your “i” safe with iPod accessories

Everyone is crazy about iPods and iPhones. Even I jumped on the bandwagon and got an iPod. The media continues to report people being robbed, beaten or worse for their Apple products, so I am very cautious when using my iPod when I am out and about. Another fear I have is dropping my iPod and damaging it permanently.

There are some really easy and not-so-expensive ways to protect your iPod or iPhone.

I won the second place prize in Livewyre.NET’s blog contest! I’m going to save this $10 bucks and make it part of my next blog contest!

wordpressWith the update to WordPress 2.3, many of the plugins we’ve grown to know and love no longer work. Developers are cranking out updates pretty quickly, so check your WordPress plugins page for notifications of updated plugins, as well as the developers’ pages.

You can check your own plugins page by going to Plugins > Plugins and scrolling through the list.

This is also an optimal time to get rid of plugins that you aren’t using and clean up the code in your theme.

Alrighty. I know you’ve been waiting. Today, I’m reviewing one free to try, pay to keep web design program (Dreamweaver) and two totally freebies (Arachnophilia and Coffee Cup).

I started using Dreamweaver when it was owned by Macromedia in version MX 2004. I recently picked up Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 (el cheapo as a student from my school). This will review mainly the overall program of Dreamweaver – pick the version you want more if it is what you choose to use.

Geek GirlHave you ever restarted your computer one day and all of your photos and documents are GONE?!?!?

Or, have you ever accidentally deleted a folder of documents and realized, “Durn, I shouldn’t have done that,” but when you went to Recycle Bin, there was nothing there?!?!?

That is a nightmare that far too many people experience every day.

But, there’s online backup program that will automatically backup your computer files to a secure online server.
