Tina Silva over at her personal blog, posted a really interesting look at how one blogger keeps track of their blogs and continue publishing quality content. Tina has a blogging schedule that helps her keep track of 15 plus blogs!

I have one blog, but several weekly series that I try to keep on track; and the only way to do that is to remember what posts are due when, and even pre-write articles for publication.

blog.gears – Great for Offline Blogging

Geek GirlHere’s a handy new trick for offline blogging! It’s called blog.gears, and it is available for Blogger/Google Gears users.

blog.gears allows Blogger authors to create new posts, edit older ones and synchronize with their Blogger accounts once they have an active internet connection. The offline editor does not have the bells and whistles of the online site, but this is a great option for those who do not use fancy formatting or aren’t always at a computer with internet access.

This special feature, Geek Girl, appears every Monday.

Meebo Firefox PluginMeebo, the Web-based instant-messaging application, now has an add-on for the Firefox browser.

Meebo SidebarGet a sidebar with all of your buddies visible while you’re browsing. Get visual notifications when your friends IM you, such as a blinking tab or pop up window. Drag and drop links and images from web pages right onto your friends!

Meebo’s sidebar does currently require a Meebo window to be opened in order to send messages, but the Meebo team is working to change this in the near future. Here’s a note from the Meebo team:

Thanks for installing the meebo extension!

Need some linky love? Then head to Linky Love!

Linky Love has been one of my favorite “make money online” blogs since I started blogging seriously earlier this year! This site has been incredibly helpful as I’ve navigated the waters into blogging with PayPerPost and other monetization opportunities online.

While Linky, the author of Linky Love is not US based, their opinions on what is most important in the make money online arena are well respected by bloggers worldwide. Linky Love has seen some dramatic traffic increases, due to Linky’s tenaciousness and willingness to spread the knowledge about Link Love all around the world!

After you have purchased your domain, picked out a unique theme and added a few plugins for your readers’ enjoyment, consider using some WordPress plugins to add additional functionality to your administration screen – the blog’s back end!

  1. Advanced-Admin-Menus v2.2.1 by Andy Staines — Prevents you from having to click two or three times to access administration screens – instead the menus are drop down menus.
  2. Akismet v2.0.2 by Matt Mullenweg — Spam is so common, but this plugin can keep you from having to wade through dozens of spam messages in your comments. Instead, they are seprarated out, so you can review spam comments at your convenience.

It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s….Microsoft Office 2007????

If you’re like me, you use Microsoft Office a lot in your daily life – writing papers, doing spreadsheets, checking email, yadda yadda yadda. So through all the different versions of Word, the layout has been basically the same so it was easy to adapt from one version to another. Until now. Office 2007 has a much different layout, much more graphical with a lot of bells and whistles. When I opened it the first thing I wanted to say was “What the ….” (but I was in my campus library!). Even for the accustomed Office user, it is a very hard transition – you can’t find usual tools and just typing a simple document takes more than a while if you try to do any formatting. But I’m here to help you make that transition and point out some sites that have helped me make it as well (including some awesome free video tutorials).

wakerupperI’m always looking for new ways to wake up and get back to studying or working.

So, I have been testing out Wakerupper!

Wakerupper is an experimental service that aims to make telephone alerting free and as easy as possible. No more need to pay a wakeup call service up to 6 dollars to arrange a one-time wakeup call. Just enter the number of the phone you would like to be called on, the time you want to receive the call, your email address, and an optional 140-character reminder message and you will receive a call from Wakerupper at the time you have specified.
