Give your blog its own unique voice… You!
I believe thepinkc has a very unique voice. I’m not always sure if other people understand my humor or writing style, but I continue to write, in hopes that one day I’ll be greatly appreciated for my personal style!

“Ok class. Today you are to read Excelsior chapters 1-3 and 6 plus do the assignment at the end of chapter 5 to turn in on the 22nd.” – Does this sound familiar as something your professor has said to you or written in your syllabus? Lots of information at once can be overwhelming for a student or anyone else in the world. In the business world and as a student, there are all kinds of meetings, lunches, reminders, etc that go on each and every day. If you’re like me, your brain says “I’m not holding all this. I don’t hear you. La la la la la.” So I have to write things down and I’ve learned it’s better to do it in a fashion that makes sense to you if no one else. This post won’t make you change your habits overnight, but it’ll give you a few hints and tips to make it all better.
Hint #1: The Planner (aka WRITE IT DOWN)
Everyone isn’t born organized. Everyone can’t grasp the concept of total organization. But that’s ok. Some of us LOVE to plan and that’s how we do what we do. I used to absolutely abhor the idea of using a planner. My mom would always buy me one and I’d try to use it for a couple of days then toss it in some back drawer. And I’d always forget my assignments or turn them in late or be really confused when I showed up and nobody was in class. So slowly but surely I started working my way toward a planner of sorts.

This is Step #12 in the 101 Steps to Becoming a Better Blogger.
Get involved in the blogosphere. Being a blogger is about being part of a community. Leave comments on other blogs and get to know your favorite bloggers.
This step is a lot easier said than done. There are literally hundreds of bloggers looking for attention from their favorite bloggers or the bloggers with the most link juice – not tart cherry juice! I like relatively unknown bloggers and have developed a great friendship with the blogger of Linky Love and a couple of other bloggers are really great resources for information and blogging tips.

There are hundreds, perhaps thousands of WordPress plugins out there – and many help you with SEO – search engine optimization of your WordPress site or blog.
Why should you care about SEO?
- SEO ensures that people will find your website when conducting keyword searches on search engines like Google, MSN or Yahoo.
- Ranking high in search engine searches for certain keywords can help you generate more income from your WordPress powered website.
Simply put, SEO can generate traffic for your site – meaning people are reading your content and clicking on your ads!

Use trackbacks.
Trackbacks have been instrumental in helping me find out what bloggers find interesting here. I also use trackbacks to let other bloggers know what I like on their sites. I need to strengthen my use of trackbacks, in order to build more organic linking, so I will definitely keep working on this more in the future.
Step #10 in the 101 Steps to Becoming a Better Blogger is a biggie:
Submit your blog to rss and blog directories.
I am a member of several directories, though I am not 100% convinced of their reliability for generating traffic for my site. It seems as if you are only on top as long as no one else is submitting their site! Because thepinkc currently doesn’t fit a particular niche, it is difficult to categorize my site well on a directory.

Blog and ping.
I definitely follow this step! I am blogging less as of late, and I’m not sure if I’ll pick the pace back up soon or not. I’m not “tired” of blogging but I feel like there’s a definite information overload right now. I’m hardly being able to keep up with the feeds I subscribe to, let alone keep up with all of my writing ideas!
